As Hispanics, we care about the environment, especially how it impacts nuestras familias. We want our children to have clean water and air, and a sustainable world. And, we are learning that weaning ourselves off of oil is as important for our economy and our national security as it is for our preserving our planet.

Right now, scientists, environmentalists and business leaders are working together to figure out how to clean up our environment and find new forms of energy. And every piece of that puzzle – from organic farming to building wind turbines – is resulting in job creation.

Imagine if you could work in a job that offers upward mobility and contributes to nuestras comunidades in bigger ways—preserving the environment, improving public health, and promoting our collective social responsibility. Well – you can!

Green jobs – jobs that are connected in some positive way to the environment - pay family wages, offer the potential for career development, and allow you to give back to your community. Some green jobs are brand new jobs that until a few years ago, we did not even have names for - like renewable energy technicians. But even more jobs are old jobs that we have to start thinking about in new ways, such as the construction worker who utilizes green technology to build new homes.

Green jobs are good jobs.

That’s why we founded GoVerdeAhora.com – your first-stop in learning about green jobs. Here, you can find answers to your basic questions about green jobs – what they are, why they are good jobs, and where to find them. As you learn more, we encourage you to share this site with your amigos y familia who might also benefit from learning more about green jobs.

Green jobs are a big part of the emerging new energy economy. Green jobs allow us to simultaneously invest in our personal economic futures and the collective future of our planet. The economic stimulus bill passed in February by the Congress will provide about $70 billion for the nation's energy economy, most of it for green energy. Specifically, $500 million will go toward green job training. Some studies estimate that the United States will boast 37 million jobs from renewable energy and energy efficiency by 2030. America is changing – it’s going green. You can be a part of that change.
